Splitgate 2 is live now PlayStation Steam Xbox

Splitgate 2 launches on Steam and consoles. This free shooter might shake up the market

The long-awaited sequel to the hit arena shooter has just gone live. Splitgate 2 is now available in open beta and like its predecessor, it’s completely free to play on PC and current-gen consoles.

The game launched today and offers a fully playable experience. What’s worth to highlight – developers have confirmed that no progress will be wiped between beta and full release. That makes it a great time to jump in.

Splitgate 2 is being built in Unreal Engine 5, promising a significant visual and technical upgrade over the original. It maintains the same fast-paced, arena-style gunplay mixed with the signature portal mechanic that made the first game a breakout success. Players can create portals on walls to flank enemies, escape firefights, or chain together impossible movement combos, adding a tactical twist to traditional multiplayer FPS gameplay.

The beta includes several classic game modes, new maps, and refined movement systems. While ranked play and other features are still in development, the current version already offers a solid multiplayer experience with smooth matchmaking and cross-play support.

Splitgate 2 where to download?

The game is free to download on Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. A release for last-gen consoles and other platforms may follow later.

Splitgate 2 is developed by 1047 Games, the same studio behind the original title, which gained popularity in 2021 for blending the DNA of Halo and Portal into a surprisingly balanced competitive shooter.

With improved graphics, ongoing updates, and a zero-cost entry point, Splitgate 2 is positioning itself as a strong contender in the free-to-play shooter space. If you missed the original or just want a fresh, fast-paced multiplayer experience, now’s the perfect time to give it a shot.
