The long-awaited sequel to the hit arena shooter has just gone live. Splitgate 2 is now available in open beta and like its predecessor, it’s completely free to play on PC and current-gen consoles.
The game launched today and offers a fully playable experience. What’s worth to highlight – developers have confirmed that no progress will be wiped between beta and full release. That makes it a great time to jump in.
Splitgate 2 is being built in Unreal Engine 5, promising a significant visual and technical upgrade over the original. It maintains the same fast-paced, arena-style gunplay mixed with the signature portal mechanic that made the first game a breakout success. Players can create portals on walls to flank enemies, escape firefights, or chain together impossible movement combos, adding a tactical twist to traditional multiplayer FPS gameplay.
The beta includes several classic game modes, new maps, and refined movement systems. While ranked play and other features are still in development, the current version already offers a solid multiplayer experience with smooth matchmaking and cross-play support.
