If you’re into short but unsettling indie games, there are two completely free titles on Itch.io that deserve your attention.
Trailer Park and Burger Shop, both from JML Game Studio. They won’t take up much of your time, but they will definitely mess with your nerves.
Trailer Park – You just wanted to pick something up. Now you’re trapped.
Set in a quiet, eerie mobile home park, you arrive just trying to grab a package. But of course, things quickly take a dark turn. With minimal UI and a strong sense of atmosphere, the game pulls you into a tense and claustrophobic space where nothing feels quite right. Expect jump scares, cryptic notes, and an ending that leaves you wondering what just happened.
Burger Shop – It’s your night shift. You’re alone. Or are you?
This first-person horror game drops you into a fast food restaurant during a late-night shift. The lights flicker. The machines hum. You’re supposed to make burgers… but something else is lurking in the shadows. Simple tasks quickly turn into a surreal nightmare as strange events escalate. Fans of VHS horror and analog scares will feel right at home.
Both games are short (10–15 minutes), free to download, and run on most PCs. No account is needed to play, and they’re part of the developer’s growing series of horror experiments titled Whispers in the Dark.
They’re perfect for a quick adrenaline rush — and a reminder of how effective minimalistic horror can be when done right.
