The classic platformer SteamWorld Dig is now free on Steam until June 26. Grab it before it’s gone.
The steampunk mining classic SteamWorld Dig is now available for free on Steam (PC). Players can add the game to their libraries permanently, as long as they claim it before June 26 at 7:00 PM CEST.
Developed by Swedish studio Image & Form, SteamWorld Dig first launched in 2013 and quickly became a cult favorite among fans of platformers and metroidvania-style games. The game combines side-scrolling exploration, mining mechanics, and light puzzle solving, all wrapped in a charming pixelart aesthetic.
What makes SteamWorld Dig worth your time
You play as Rusty, a lone steampowered robot who arrives in the dusty town of Tumbleton to take over a mysterious mine left behind by his uncle. As you dig deeper underground, you uncover valuable resources, strange secrets, and dangerous creatures. The deeper you go, the more upgrades you unlock, making you better equipped to handle what lies beneath.
The gameplay is procedurally generated, giving each run a slightly different feel. It’s easy to pick up but difficult to put down. Death isn’t permanent, you’ll simply pay a repair fee and get a second chance, making it beginner friendly while still offering challenge.
Time is ticking – don’t miss this freebie
SteamWorld Dig holds a 94% “Very Positive” rating on Steam, and it’s not often that such well-reviewed indie games are offered for free. The giveaway ends on June 26, so if you haven’t played this underground gem yet, now’s your chance.
