Epic Games Store has just launched its long-awaited mystery giveaway event, and it starts with a bang. Players can now claim Dead Island 2 and Happy Game completely free of charge. Both titles are available to grab until May 22 at 5 PM CEST.
This double release kicks off Epic’s annual May promotion, which traditionally features high-profile games hidden behind a “mystery” banner. Instead of announcing the full lineup, Epic reveals one set of games each week. The next mystery title will go live on May 23.
Dead Island 2 is the main highlight. This action-packed zombie game, released in 2023, was praised for its detailed gore system, fast-paced combat and the chaotic fun of smashing through undead hordes in a sun-soaked version of Los Angeles. It’s a rare chance to grab a fairly recent AAA title completely free.
Alongside it, Epic also offers Happy Game from Amanita Design. Don’t be misled by the name, this indie horror game is disturbing, surreal and packed with psychological tension. It’s a short but memorable experience, ideal for fans of unsettling art styles and nightmarish puzzles.
To claim both titles, simply log into your Epic Games account, go to the store page and add them to your library before the deadline. Once redeemed, the games are yours to keep permanently.
Epic will reveal the next free mystery game on May 23, continuing the weekly giveaway cycle. If this week’s start is anything to go by, there may be more big surprises ahead.
